Giant’S Cup Wilderness is a small, private resort nestling among the pediments of the high Drakensberg, just outside Underberg.
The destination offers unique access to unspoiled wilderness in the Umzimkulwana valley. Giant’s Cup Wilderness Reserve is regarded by many as perhaps the finest trout fishing destination in the country. The reserve is entirely surrounded by the Ukhalhamba Drakensberg Park. It is home to prolific wildlife and rare waterfowl and is popular with fly anglers, birders, nature photographers and wilderness lovers.
Activities include angling for wild-spawned rainbow and brown trout in the Umzimkulwana river which flows into a 25 hectare lake, as well as wilderness hikes and bird-watching for uncommon / rare wet-land species and raptors.
Three thatched cottages provide visitors with well appointed, en-suite, self catering accommodation in un-common comfort and un-parallelled privacy.
Guests are hosted by ACCLAIMED author, fly-fisherman and photographer, Wolf Avni, whose books and nature photography have been widely published around the world.
