Accommodation packages range from R150–R800 per person per night. When to Go:Best during high Summer (October to March). Winter months (April to September) are also suitable. Itinerary Rating:Easy to Moderate. Children can go for a tandem flight, while teenagers older than 14 years are able to do the Paragliding course. Other:No experience needed, and all you need to bring is active wear. Since it is a mountainous environment, always bring cold weather gear. Catering arrangements can be made depending on the duration of your outing. . No off-road vehicles are needed. Depending on your choice of accommodation, we can also recommend and co-ordinate your travel and accommodation arrangements. Half-day Tandem Instructional Paragliding flight excursion or two-day Paragliding introduction course.

Half-day Tandem Instructional Flight Experience:

The meeting point is at Wild Sky lodge in Bulwer, Southern Drakensberg. Camp or stay over in backpacker’s accommodation. This Tandem Instructional Paragliding requires no experience. It takes 30 minutes to drive up the mountain and here you may wait for conducive weather conditions. Depending on the weather and conditions, the flight takes about 12 to 15 minutes. Afterwards, drive back down to the lodge.

Paragliding Introduction Course:

Day 1 –
The introductory course starts at 09h00. We shall go to the training slope, where you will have an introductory lecture and demonstration. Then students are assisted to start running to pull the glider up and learn how to steer and stop. Students progress up the slope until they are able to do ground skimming as well as steer and land. Once the instructor is certain the students have the necessary skills we progress to the take-off site which usually takes place on Day 2.

Day 2 – Paragliding Introduction course:
We go to the take-off site at about 10h00 where we brief and assist students on getting ready to fly. Students will then have a short top-to-bottom flight with an instructor at take-off and instructor in the landing field. There is ongoing radio contact between instructors and students.

Day 3 – Abseil Cathedral Peak:
Make your way to Cathedral Peak in the beautiful Central Drakensberg. This is scenic abseil offers an overhanging descent of nearly 45m, with fantastic views of the Cathedral Range.
