At Oaklands, we firmly believe that good food is an essential part of any countryside getaway experience. Indulge in long, leisurely meals prepared by our expert staff while you take in the stunning views and absorb the tranquil atmosphere of the Central Drakensberg.
Whether you choose the charming restaurant, the veranda with its panoramic vistas or the terrace for an alfresco meal during warm summer days or balmy nights, you are sure to be amply rewarded by any selection of food at Oaklands Country Manor.
Breakfasts cater for every whim, from a hearty English breakfast, to brioches, croissants, muffins, jams and compotes. A delicious addition is the selection of sublime local cheeses and fresh fruits. Lunch and dinner offerings are a diverse range of finely assembled mouth-watering meals such as Dargle Valley pork rib-eye roast, aged Angus steak, Red Thai seafood curry, freshly picked porcini mushrooms, asparagus with softly boiled crusted deep fried eggs, or the spring vegetable and ricotta cannelloni.
Our palate-pleasing selection also includes a rich variety of delectable starters and sumptuous desserts, each one more appetising than the next. There is no set menu at Oaklands Restaurant.
In keeping with a countryside lifestyle and small-town community ethos, food at Oaklands is produced and prepared the old fashioned way.
Most of the ingredients are locally sourced from nearby farms and supplemented with the freshest produce from Oaklands’ organic kitchen gardens.
Great cooking starts with great basics. The quality of our wholesome, naturally grown ingredients is reflected in the rich textures and aromatic flavours of each meal that passes through the kitchen doors.
The agrarian heart of our small community works with us to revive a culture of essentially simple and sustainable living. Our ‘Know the Farmer’; ethos is rooted in the belief that a symbiotic relationship between land, people and community is the secret to a healthy and happy way of life.
