Oban Guesthouse is rustic and homely “farm style accommodation” lying on the northern slopes of the escarpment halfway between Johannesburg and Durban. Only 5.5km outside of Van Reenen on the De Beer’s Pass Road. We have clean, pretty, comfortable rooms with excellent views of the Tandjiesberg Range. Oban Guesthouse has been going since the beginning of the century with many return visits from guests who were once here as children and they regale us with special memories.
The farm is wonderful for bird watching as it is quiet and peaceful. You will awake every morning to the sound of the Bokmakierie. Within 15km of Oban Guesthouse is a trout farm and we also have a small dam on the property with bass.
Things are slower here – to fill your bath takes ten minutes from our natural spring water through our gas fired geysers! Children love the animals and our “orphans” love them back. We have pet friendly rooms available and pensioners also qualify for a discount.
All our meals are served in the main dining room. Our breakfasts are farm style affairs that give you a great start to the day. As we are not licensed guests are free to bring their own alcohol and make use of the fridge in the bar. Grab a book from the shelves, put your feet up and chill, this is where you turn the clock back and enjoy getting back to basics. We also host camps, conferences and weddings.
