It also forms part of the Midlands Meander.Midmar Dam Resort is surrounded by the beautiful Midmar Dam, and rustic mountains, which provides for a peaceful, calm getaway destination. Day 1 – (Friday):

Check-in at Midmar Dam Resort and enjoy your lunch at one of Midmar’s picnic spots, whilst taking pleasure in the incredible views that the Dam presents. Later if the weather permits a dip in the pool or Dam to cool off is always refreshing. Dinner can be appreciated at the recently established Midmar View Restaurant, which offers a diversity of meals for food lovers, it’s also convenient as it is found within the Resort. Day 2 –  (Saturday):

Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast across the road from the resort at Fern Hill Hotel (033 330 5071). Later take a drive to the recently launched Nelson Mandela Capture Site on the R103.

Day 3 – (Sunday):

Today enjoy breakfast at Calabash Cafe across the road. After which your can go for a game drive with your own car, bicycle or on foot at Thurlow Gate, which is on the R617. Here you can view zebra, black wildebeest, blesbok, reedbuck and oribi, to name a few. After enjoying a long drive at Thurlow Game Reserve a picnic basket can be taken to the beautiful Howick Falls to enjoy the magnificent scenery whilst enjoying lunch.
