Nature lovers can enjoy a number of easy walking trails on Oaklands property. We also offer informative facilitated trails led by local guides with extensive knowledge of local culture and history, as well as the various uses of indigenous fauna and flora.

Explore the unspoilt terrain that surrounds Oaklands Country Manor at your own pace, with a number of walking and hiking trails on the property and beyond. Most trails are within a 15km driving distance of the Manor grounds.

Enjoy a peaceful stroll through the KwaZulu-Natal countryside on your own, or take an informative facilitated walk. Routes vary from leisurely walks to slightly more challenging hikes and rock climbing trails.

Nelson’s Kop:
We also offer informative facilitated trails led by local guides with extensive knowledge of local culture and history, as well as the various uses of indigenous fauna and flora.

A 4×4 vehicle is optional to access Nelson’s Kop, but the Oaklands Team is more than happy to drive if there are less than four guests.

Expect a steep climb of four to five hours. This elevation stands high above the surrounding area with a small summit area, steep slopes and local relief of 300m or more.
