Mid-week breakaway for a small ‘Bosberaad’, book-club or social and family groups with plenty of scope for social and teambuilding activities.
Day 1 – Arrive in Clarens
The meeting point is Guinea Fowl Lodge, a self-catering establishment situated on The Clarens Golf Estate. Here the caretaker will meet you to hand over the house keys and show you the Bosberaad facility. You will also receive a Golf Card, which enables you to get special discounted rates at the Clarens Golf Club. Enjoy dinner at any one of the fine restaurants in Clarens.
Day 2 – Bosberaad and White Water Rafting
Get down to your business at hand, be it a small sales conference, photography session, painting group or book-club discussion group.
Break away from your business session to take part in an exhilarating white water rafting experience.
Due to the very cold winters in Clarens, white-water rafting is best during the summer months. The Ash River, just outside the town, is fed by water from the Katse Dam in Lesotho’s Maluti Mountains ensuring year-round high water levels.
Contact one of the two operators in Clarens, i.e. Clarens Xtreme or Outrageous Adventures, to organise this outing. No experience needed.
Day 3 – Bosberaad – Golf at The Clarens Golf Club
Your round of golf at the Clarens Golf Estate begins at the stylish clubhouse, strategically positioned to view the finish of both nines as well as the magnificent Mount Horeb.
Before you tee off, take time to absorb the setting of the picturesque town and the full 360-degree view of the mountains. All the 18 holes meander along and across the tranquil river and its splendid series of waterfalls and cascades.
The playing surface of the manicured Kikuyu fairways and Bent grass greens are framed by mature Willow and magnificent Lombardi poplar trees, characteristic of the area. The classic ‘risk and reward’ design layout of the course features wide fairways at the landing areas off the tees, so you can easily reach the greens according to your handicap. Since almost every green hugs the water, it’s a case of playing safe to your handicap, or attacking the flags to ‘go low’.
Great care has been taken through attention to detail and visual appeal to ensure that each round of golf you play will be as memorable, as the previous one.
Day 4 – Winter time Snow Skiing in Lesotho
Lesotho is home to Afri Ski, the highest ski resort in Africa, which is just one and a half hours ride from Clarens. If you want to experience this day outing, remember to bring your passport with you.
During the winter months, this resort offers activities for both young and old. This includes a special children’s board and ski area, ski lessons for beginners on gentle nursery slopes as well as more challenging slopes for experienced skiers.
Day 5 – Other Activities
Today, before you head off back home, why not enjoy one of the many other activities the area has to offer? You can drive to Golden Gate, indulge in some health spa pampering or wander around the town. Other options include horse riding, abseiling, quad biking, fly fishing, archery, hiking, and getting lost in the maze.
