Dribbling Spoonfuls on the Midlands Meander

We all know the feeling… escaping the all too familiar year long ‘taxi service’ of school runs, after-school sports, concerts, meetings, exercise dates and the dreaded deadlines we chase. So we pack our family and in-laws in the car, for what we promise will be their best Summer holiday ever and head along the N3 Toll Route in desperation to unwind, have free-range children, and a digital detox (if only just for a short break). Of course on a road trip, children seem to need the toilet far more than usual and food seems to be the greatest way to break the trip and end the question of, “Are we there yet?” Because we are efficient, we have done our research on the N3 Gateway website and discovered just the spot to stop, eat and Instagram your meal, ensuring all your friends wish they were with you.

Midlands Meander

The staff at the N3 Gateway receive quite a few enquiries as to which eatery would suit a family of many dietary needs, from vegetarian to that drop down on one knee meal-with-a-view request. To give an honest answer, we ensure our staff are fully up to date and can immediately suggest that perfect location.

Here are a few of our top mouth-watering stops:

Coming from either Johannesburg or Durban, along the N3 Toll Route,  a very easy quick stop that satisfies the appetite and allows the kids to run free and play outdoors is the Bistro on 30° just off the N3 in Mooi River. The best banting breakfast is available and for those who do love a carb, the cream scones are light and lip-smackingly delicious.
